Explosion destroyed UCH facilities – medical director

 Ibadan, Jan. 17, 2024 – Prof. Jesse Otegbayo, the Chief Medical Director of University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, said that the Tuesday night explosion affected some of its facilities.

Otegbayo said this in a statement in Ibadan on Wednesday.

She listed some of the destroyed facilities to include the Medical Museum, School of Nursing, Molecular Laboratory, Bulk Store, Ogunlesi Hall, and Hospital Clinics, among others

Otegbayo, however, said the hospital’s trauma response team had been activated to ensure that every patient received prompt and compassionate care.

She appealed to well-meaning individuals and corporate organizations to come to the hospital’s aid to be able to sustain and upscale healthcare delivery at this time and beyond.

The hospital said 11 victims of the explosion were brought to the hospital alive, while another one was at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

She said the victims who sustained various injuries were responding to treatment while five of those who sustained minor injuries had been discharged
