Lagos, Jan. 12, 2024 – Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State on Friday commended the Supreme Court for its fairness in its judgement affirming his victory in the 2023 governorship election in the state.
He said by the judgement there was “no victors and no vanquished” in the state.
Reacting to the judgement through his official X page, Sanwo-Olu also said the judgement was “an affirmation that revalidates the trust and confidence our people have placed in our vision for a greater Lagos. Thank you all for your unwavering support.
“I invite those still on the fence to join our train of progressive governance. We run an inclusive government and do not claim a monopoly of ideas.”
“Obafemi Hamzat and I are privileged to have been elected to serve at this auspicious moment in the history of our state. Let’s continue working together to build a Lagos that thrives, progresses, and uplifts every resident, the Lagos governor urged stakeholders”.
“The journey continues, and our commitment remains steadfast,” he said.
The Supreme Court, in its judgement read by Justice Garba, the leader of the three-man panel of justices, dismissed the petition of Mr Rhodes-Vivour, the candidate of the Labour Party.
It held that the Lagos deputy governor was qualified to contest the election, one of the grounds of contention of the candidate of the Labour Party. (GBN)
