Lagos, Dec. 21, 2022 – A 73-year-old man, Dukuye Ohofete, has been remanded in prison custody for allegedly defiling a five-year-old girl.
The defendant was arraigned before a Magistrates’ Court in Ogba, Lagos State, after he was recorded by a neighbour while he was perpetrating the act.
Adejoke Ladenegan-Oginni, an official of The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, said this in a statement on Tuesday.
“The mother of the survivor was reported to have been separated from the child’s father six months ago. She, alongside the survivor, visited the alleged perpetrator, who’s a family friend, on December 14, 2022.
“The alleged perpetrator asked the mother of the survivor to get foodstuffs for him and left the five-year-old in the house with him.
“According to the mother of the survivor, on getting back to the house, she was shown a video of her daughter being defiled by the alleged perpetrator.
“The mother also claimed that the survivor complained about feeling pain in her private parts four months ago, but she thought it was an infection.
“The 73-year-old has been remanded in the Kirikiri Custodial Centre pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.” (GBN)
