Akure, April, 17, 2023 -The Ondo State Police Command has arrested seven suspects for stoning a 35-year-old driver to death.
The victim, Olorunfemi Tope, was allegedly involved in an accident where his vehicle killed one person and injured some others along Ijoka Road in Akure on April 10.
The victim was accused of being a ritualist following the discovery of some fetish objects in his vehicle.
SP Olufunmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the Police Spokesperson in the state, on Monday confirmed that seven persons were in police custody.
The police listed the principal suspects as Amos Victor, Boboye Ismail, Olatunji Samuel and Farotimi Pelumi as they were captured in the video when attacking the deceased.
The Police spokesperson said the suspects would be arraigned in court on charges of arson and murder, after the conclusion of investigation.
She warned warned that jungle justice is illegal and against the law.
“When there is an accident, our focus is on how to rescue the victims. It’s not in anybody’s place to kill anyone,” she said. (GBN).
