Rabat, May 23, 2025 – The African Development Bank (AfDB) and Morocco are working to accelerate large-scale projects by reviewing their current investments to optimize €2.9 billion in funding for key infrastructure.
The AfDB Country Manager in Morocco, Achraf Tarsim, said in a statement that “nearly €3 billion of operations are currently underway in Morocco to initiate key projects and reforms that enhance the Kingdom’s competitiveness and attractiveness.”
This figure “reflects the excellence, depth, and vitality of our partnership,” he emphasized during the launch of the performance review of the portfolio of projects financed by the Bank in Morocco.
Over two days, around one hundred representatives from the government, the Bank, and project management units from various ministries and public administrations will come together with a central objective: to maximize effective deployment of the 32 ongoing projects and strengthen their alignment with national priorities.
For over half a century, the AfDB has allocated nearly €15 billion to finance more than 150 projects and programs.
These interventions span strategic sectors such as transport, social protection, water and sanitation, energy, agriculture, governance, and finance. (HESPEXPRESS)
