Abuja, Sept. 15, 2023 -President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Zaccheus Adedeji as the Acting Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
He is to replace Mohammad Nami, the former Chief Executive of FIRS, who has been retired.
Ajuri Ngelale, the Presidential Spokesman, said in a statement that the president had directed Nami to proceed on three-month pre-retirement leave leading to his eventual retirement from service on Dec, 8, 2023.
Adedeji is to act for three months before his subsequent confirmation as the substantive executive chairman of FIRS.
“By these directives of the President, the new appointment takes immediate effect,” Ngelale said.
Adedeji was a special adviser to President Tinubu on Revenue.
He was born on Jan. 8, 1978 in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
Adedeji had a National Diploma in Accounting from Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State and later graduated in first class from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State.
He obtained a Master of Science degree in accounting, also from OAU.
Adedeji also attended Harvard Kennedy School of Government in the United States for an Executive Course in Economic Development. (GBN)
