Reps demand living wages for Nigerian workers

Abuja, March 6, 2024 – The House of Representatives has demanded for living wages for Nigerian workers to commensurate with current economic situation.

The House adopted the resolution on Wednesday following a motion sponsored by the Minority Leader of the House, Kingsley China, and 37 other members.

It resolved to transmit its resolution to the Senate for concurrence.

The House directed its committees on Labour and Employment, Finance and National Planning to work out modalities for the payment of living wages to Nigerian workers at rates that will match economic realities.

The Federal Government has set up a tripartite committee on the minimum wage.

The committee will hold public hearings across the country on March 7.  (GBN)
