Abuja, Oct. 25, 2024 – The House of Representatives on Thursday advised the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to hasten the withdrawal of old naira notes to allow more new notes to circulate.
The new naira notes are in N200, N500, and N1,000 denominations.
The House gave the advice following the adoption of a motion of national importance raised by a member, Adam Victor Ogene (LP, Anambra)
Ogene said the motion was of importance as the country was fast approaching the Dec, 31, 2024 deadline for the total withdrawal of the old notes.
He urged the CBN to ensure that commercial banks would be adequately supplied with the new notes before the deadline to meet the demands of the public. (GBN)
