Abuja, May 3, 2024 – Some protesters from Zamfara State on Friday besieged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and urged it to reopen investigations against Bello Matawalle, a former governor of the state.

The protesters, under the aegis of APC Loyalists Forum, urged the EFCC to investigate all petitions against the former governor, including the alleged contract diversion of up to the tune of N70 billion.

Wilson Uwujaren, the EFCC Director of Public Affairs, received the protest letter on behalf of the chairman.

He promised that the commission would pursue all corruption cases to logical conclusion.

Matawalle has been under investigation for alleged N70bn fraud before he left office as governor.

EFCC had in May 2023, issued a statement that Matawalle was being investigated over allegation of fraudulent award of contracts and diversion of over N70 billion.
