Police in Kano confiscates 820 cartons of fake, expired drugs

Kano, Aug. 26, 2026 – The Kano State Police Command on Saturday said it had confiscated 820 cartons of suspected fake and expired drugs at Mallam Kato Market in Fagge Local Government Area of the state.

A statement issued by Abdullahi Haruna, the command’s Public Relations Officer, said the drugs were recovered from two warehouses in the market.

The drugs include 514 cartons of eemistxmin/emstifer syrup, 219 cartons of 5mg Lisinopril tablets, 7 cartons of 5mg amlodipine tablets, 87 cartons of 50mg atenol and 40 cartons, 3 cartons of Frusemide injection.

Haruna said the drugs had been handed over to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

He advised residents to report suspicious persons and items to the police for prompt action. (GBN)
