Ibadan, April 20, 2023 – The Oyo State Command of Nigeria Police on Thursday presented cheques totaling N20.9m to families of police officers who lost their lives in Ibadan during the ENDSARS protest in 2022.

The cheques were presented to the beneficiaries at the Police Headquarters in Ibadan.

Adebowale Williams, the state Commissioner of Police, said the families of the 20 officers were befitting from the Group Life Assurance Scheme of the Nigeria Police instituted by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba.

He advised the beneficiaries to use the money judiciously for the upkeep and welfare of their families.

Williams said the IGP’s welfare scheme was intended to ameliorate the suffering or hardship being faced by immediate family members of the deceased before the benefits were paid. (GBN)
