Ibadan, April 7, 2023 -The Oyo State Command of Federal Road Safety Corps has deployed 1,700 personnel including special marshals on the roads during the Easter period.
It said it had also deployed 22 patrol vehicles, two ambulances, a heavy-duty tow truck and power bikes across the state during the Easter celebration.
Chijoke Inyama, the Sector’s Public Education Officer, said this when he briefed journalists on behalf of the Sector Commander, Joshua Adekanye, in Ibadan on Friday.
He said the special patrol, which started operation on Thursday, would be operate for a week to reduce road traffic crashes, fatalities and injuries during the celebrations.
“The essence of these deployments is for effective traffic management which has led to our increased visibility on all major routes across the state.”
Inyama said that the command had also engaged other stakeholders to work with FRSC during this period.
He said that the command was collaborating with other security agencies, health providers and private hospitals for effective intelligence gathering, data collection analysis and prompt attention to accident victims
Inyama said that the command would sustain its aggressive public enlightenment campaign in major parks across the state to ensure maximum compliance with traffic rules and regulations.
He said the command would arrest drivers of vehicles caught overloading, use of phone while driving, driver’s licence violation, dangerous driving and driving against traffic.
The traffic officer advised residents to exhibit high level of discipline on the roads during and after the Easter celebration. (GBN)
