Abeokuta, Nov. 21, 2023 – The Cargo International Airport, being built by the Ogun State Government, will commence operations before the end of the year.

Dare Odufuwokan, the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor of Ogun on Public Communications, said this on Tuesday.

He said the multipurpose airport was designed to provide both cargo and passenger services.

Odufuwokan said the problem of decongestion of the ports in Lagos would be drastically reduced once the airport began operation.

He said that the state government had started developing complementary infrastructure such as the Dry Port in Kajola and the Olokonla Port to lessen the pressure on the ports in Lagos State.

Odufuwokan said at the airport would create jobs, open up new towns around the area, and lead to the emergence of an economic zone in the area.

Ogun State Government started constructing the airport in April 2021. (GBN)
