NNPCL to boost gas supply to other African countries

Dubai, Dec.5, 2025 – The Nigerian National Petroleum Company limited (NNPCL) is to boost supply of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) supply to other countries in Africa. 

Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPCL, said this at a panel discussion at the COP28 Conference in Dubai.

Olufemi Soneye, the Chief Spokesman at NNPCL, in a statement, said Kyari said the NNPCL was creating a regional gas pipeline network to supply natural gas across Africa to achieve the plan.

Kyari said Nigeria was using gas to drive its journey towards energy transition with the abundant natural gas reserves of 206 trillion cubic feet (tcf) that have the potential to rise to 600 tcf.

He said the NNPCL would soon eliminating gas flares in almost all its gas projects, explaining that the idea was to deploy such gas to power plants nationwide.

Kyari said this is ultimately intended to boost electricity supply nationwide, create employment opportunities and trigger the nation’s industrial and economic development. (GBN)
