NLC meets Tuesday to review planned strike

Abuja, March 27, 2023 – The National Executive Committee (NEC) of NLC will meet on Tuesday, March 28, to discuss the national strike being called on cash shortage.

Joe Ajaero, the President of the NLC, said this at a meeting of the Minister of Labour, Chief Chris Ngige with the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, and the NLC in Abuja on Monday.

The NLC has called on all workers in the country to embark on a nationwide strike from Wednesday, March 29 to protest against the acute of cash shortage across the country.

He said the NEC meeting had been scheduled to enable the NLC take a holistic review of the cash supply situation across the country.

Ajaero said that the NEC members were coming from states and local government areas and were expected to report on availability of money, after which a decision will be taken on the planned strike.

He said the NLC no longer envisaged any problem, since CBN had started sending cash to the banks and Nigerians were now accessing their money. (GBN)
