Lagos, Dec. 7, 2022 – The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has received the ‘Corporate Organization Award’  from the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) for its good corporate citizenship.

Dr Bashir Jamoh, its Director General, was also awarded the 2022 ‘Outstanding Service to Taxation Profession’ award by the CITN.

A statement by NIMASA in Lagos on Wednesday said that the awards were given to the organisation for its exemplary record of tax-compliance and corporate social initiatives.

These, it said, included NIMASA’s nationwide distribution of relief materials to internally displaced persons as well as donations of equipment of small and medium enterprises to uplift the economically challenged in various states of the federation.

The statement said Jamoh was also nominated for the award because of his commitment to enthroning global best practices in the provision of maritime services in Nigeria.

Global Business News (GBN) reports that Jamoh has received several awards since he assumed office in NIMASA culminating in the conferment of a national honour of Officer of the Federal Republic (OFR) by President Muhammadu Buhari this year.

He is also the winner of the 2021 Zik Prize for Leadership in Public Policy and Public Service.

The CITN is a professional organization in Nigeria whose members are certified as qualified tax practitioners and administrators.

The award is the latest recognition of the efforts of NIMASA, under the current management, to positively contribute to the socioeconomic development of Nigeria. (GBN)
