NGX traded N36.451b worth of shares last week

Lagos, May 15, 2023 – A total of 3.602 billion shares worth N36.451 billion were traded in 27,801 deals on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX0 last week.

This was in contrast with the 2.973 billion shares valued at N22.828 billion traded in 23,765 deals in the preceding week.

The Financial Services Industry, measured by volume, led the activity chart last week with 3.150 billion shares valued at N27.484 billion traded in 14,987 deals.

The industry contributed 87.47 percent and 75.40 percent to last week’s total equity turnover volume and value, respectively.

The Conglomerates Industry followed with 99.394 million shares worth N219.455 million traded in 901 deals.

The third place was taken by the Consumer Goods Industry with a turnover of 87.434 million shares worth N1.628 billion traded in 3,768 deals.

Trading in the top three equities namely: Fidelity Bank, Access Holdings, and FBN Holdings, measured by volume, accounted for 2.167 billion shares worth N18.650 billion in 5,083 deals, contributing 60.17 percent and 51.16 percent to the total equity turnover volume and value, respectively.

The NGX All-Share Index and Market Capitalization depreciated by 0.48% to close for the week at 52,214.62 and N28.431 trillion, respectively.

Forty-eight equities appreciated in price last week, lower than the 51 equities in the preceding week.

Thirty equities depreciated in price, higher than the 26 in the preceding week, while 78 equities remained unchanged, lower than seventy-nine the 79 recorded in the preceding week. (GBN)
