Abuja, April 3, 2024 – The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has increased electricity tariff of Band A consumers to N225 per kilowatt.

Musilu Oseni, the NERC Vice Chairman, announced this at a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday.

He said the tariff hike was three times more than the previous rate paid by customers in the band.

Oseni said customers in the other bands in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) are not affected by the increase.

Band A customers are those enjoying a minimum of 20-hour per day electricity supply.

They constitute about 15 per cent of the entire electricity consumers in the country.  (GBN)
