Abuja, Dec. 5, 2024 – Activities at Federal Ministry of Finance in Abuja were grounded on Thursday as some retired military men took over the premises over unpaid entitlements.

They accused the Federal Government of not paying the 20% to 28% salary increment from January to November 2024.

The retirees are also demanding payment for palliatives from October 2023 to November 2024 and additional N32,000 to their pensions, amongst others.

One of the retirees, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the late payment of these allowances was causing them a lot of hardship.

He said they were told their entitlements had been approved a long time ago, but the ministry said they were still waiting for cash backing.
