LASG seals Katangua, Oke-Afa markets

Lagos, Jan. 21, 2024 -The Lagos State Government on Sunday sealed the Katangua market in Abule Egba and Oke Afa market in Isolo.

 Tunde Ajayi, the General Manager of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, disclosed this through his official X, formerly Twitter, account.

He said the markets were closed due to poor sanitation.

Ajayi said the markets were sealed on the instruction of government by the officials of the Monitoring and Compliance team of the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA).

“Katangua market sealed today 21st January, 2024 by the monitoring and compliance team of LAWMA due to gross environmental sanitation violations.

“Oke Afa market, Isolo, was sealed up due to environmental sanitation and poor waste disposal practices today 21st January, 2024 by the Monitoring and Compliance Department,” he said.

The Lagos State Government sealed many markets in the state in 2023  due to poor sanitation and were only opened after severe penalties were paid. (GBN)
