Abuja, Jan. 24, 2024 – The number of Nigerians registered in the National Identification Number (NIN) scheme stood at 95.07 million as at Jan. 22, 2023.
The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has just released the statistics in Abuja.
The number is an increase of 1.04 million over the 94.03 million enrollees recorded at the end of 2022.
According to the statistics, Lagos State recorded the highest number of 10.5 million and was followed by Kano State with 8.3 million.
The NIMC said the two most populous states in Nigeria – Lagos and Kano- had maintained the lead in NIN enrolment since the scheme started.
In terms of the gender enrolment, 53.6 million, representing 56% of those captured are male, while 41.4 million, representing 44% are female.
The top 10 states in terms of the number of enrolments are Kaduna with 5.6 million; Ogun with 3.9 million and Oyo with 3.75 million.
Other are FCT with 33.29 million; Katsina with 3.27 million; Rivers 2.86 million; Bauchi 2.58 million and Delta with 2.54 million. (GBN)
