Kwara grants 50% transport fare refund to students returning for elections

Ilorin, Feb. 13, 2023  – The Kwara State Government has offered 50 per cent transport support to Kwara students returning home from tertiary institutions to observe the three-week break ahead of the elections.

This was announced through a statement by the Spokesperson for the state Ministry of Tertiary Education, Mansurat Amuda-kannike, in Ilorin on Monday.

The statement said that the Commissioner, Afees Alabi, said the support would be paid to the beneficiaries after verification.

The Nigeria Universities Commission ordered universities to be closed for three weeks between from February 22 to March 14.

”It is interesting to note that this 50 per cent transport support is coming barely 12 hours after Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led administration announced free bus palliative for students of Unilorin and Kwara State Polytechnic which begins on Monday, February 13.

”I appreciate the efforts of the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led administration for considering students welfare with utmost priority.

“The 50 per cent subsidy is meant to augment transportation fares for students returning to Kwara,” the statement said. (GBN)
