INEC declares Tinubu President-elect

Abuja, March 1, 2023 – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Bola Tinubu, the Presidential ​​candidate of the All Progressives Congress, as the winner of the presidential election.

He polled 8,794,726 votes out of the total vote cast of 24,965,218.

The total registered voters were 93.469 million.

Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party scored 6,984,520, while Peter Obi of the Labour Party polled 6,10,533 votes.

Rabiu Kwakwanso of the New Nigeria People’s Party came fourth with 1,496,687 votes.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, declared Tinubu winner at about 4.09am on Wednesday, March 1.

“That Tinubu Bola Ahmed of the APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected,” Yakubu declared,

He said that Tinubu would be issued with a certificate of return at 3.00pm today (Wednesday).
