Hausa traders in Ondo State still receive old N500, N1000 notes

Akure, Feb. 19, 2023 – Hausa traders in Akure, the Ondo State capital, are still receiving the old N500 and N1,000 in exchange for their goods.

Global Business News (GBN) reported this in an analysis on “Nigerians suffer as cash shortage takes toll in businesses, households” published on Saturday.

There are fresh reports that traders in some parts of the country are still receiving the old N500 and N1000 notes, four days after President Muhammadu Buhari announced that the two notes had seized to legal tender,

At the Oja Oba Market in Akure, Hausa traders selling food items, said they were collecting the old notes because they heard they were still a legal tender and could be returned to the CBN at any time. (GBN)
