Bauchi, Dec. 27, 2024 – Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has signed the state’s 2025 budget of N467 billion into law.
Mohammed presented the N465 billion 2025 Appropriation Bill to the state House of Assembly for approval on November 21, .
Speaking during the signing of the budget into law, the governor said that it would take effect from Jan. 1, 2025.
He commended members of the assembly for their commitment to the review of the budget proposal, leading to its being signed into law.
The governor said the budget represented his administration’s mission to develop the state.
He said other sources of revenue would be explored to optimise the budget performance.
Earlier, Speaker of the assembly, Abubakar Sulaiman, explained that the budget was increased to N467 billion from N465 billion to accommodate the state’s development needs after all the necessary legislative procedure and review.
Sulaiman said that the assembly, through various committees, meticulously reviewed the proposal to ensure that adequate resources were allocated to all sectors.
He said that the N2 billion increment in the budget was a reflection of the transparency and oversight function of the assembly.
