Lagos, May 15, 2024 -Godwin Emefiele, the embattled former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), is to appear in court on Thursday on a fresh charge of unlawful withdrawal of N124.8 billion from the Consolidated Revenue Fund of the Federation.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has also accused him of approving the printing of N684.5million at the rate of N18.96 billion.
The EFCC alleged that Emefiele broke the law with the intention to harm the public during his implementation of the naira swap policy
The arraignment was originally scheduled for April 30, but was rescheduled for Thursday.
Emefiele will take his plea before Justice Maryann Anenih of the FCT High Court, Abuja.
He was earlier arraigned before another judge of the court on November 18, 2023, on six counts of procurement fraud.
He was accused of abusing his office by approving a contract for the acquisition of 43 vehicles totalling N1.2 billion from 2018 to 2020.
Emefiele was also arraigned with Henry Omoile on April 8 before Justice R.A. Oshodi of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, over alleged $4.5 billion and N2.8 billion fraud charges. (GBN)
