Doyin Okupe convicted for money laundering

Abuja, Dec. 19, 2022 – A Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday convicted Doyin Okupe, the Director-General of Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, for money laundering.

Okupe was a former Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to President Goodluck Jonathan,

He is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged money laundering and criminal breach of trust of about N702 million.

He was arraigned before Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu with two companies, Value Trust Investment Ltd and Abrahams Telecoms Ltd.

Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu held that Okupe diverted public funds through the office of former National Security Adviser, Dasuki.

The judge, however, gave him the opportunity to call witnesses to defend himself before 1:45pm today.  (GBN)
