Ado-Ekiti, April 3, 2023 – Yomi Ayorinde, Member of Ekiti House of Assembly-Elect (APC – Ido-Osi II), has expressed gratitude to his constituents for casting their votes for him during the Governorship and House of Assembly elections.
He also thanked the party chieftains in the state like Dr Kayode Fayemi, the immediate past Governor of the State, and his successor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, for their support.
Ayorinde of APC polled 4,463 to beat candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 589 votes and that of Social Democratic Party (SDP) who scored 982 votes.
He expressed his appreciations in an interview with newsmen in Ado-Ekiti shortly after he received his Certificate of Return from INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof. Ayobami Salami.
Ayorinde commended the electorate in his constituency for standing firm by him and the party.
He, particularly thanked them for ensuring that their votes counted in his favour in spite of the unwholesome activities of those that plotted to undermine and truncate the popular wishes of the people.
The former board member of National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) thanked the party leadership in the state and all leaders and members of APC in Ido-Osi constituency II.
Ayorinde, who was also the immediate past Chairman of State Urban Renewal Agency Board, thanked the people of Ayetoro, Ilogbo, Osi and Usi-Ekiti for giving him the opportunity to serve.
“Despite the change in the date of the elections, our people stood firm. This has shown that the people indeed have become not only politically awaken, but are now defenders of democracy,” he said.
Ayorinde lauded the security agencies for responding promptly to distress calls from “flashpoint” areas.
He also gave kudos to his opponents for being courageous enough to concede defeat, disclosing that some of them sent text messages and made calls to congratulate him on his victory.
The newly-elected legislator also thanked traditional rulers, religious leaders, market men and women, artisans, society groups and youths for their support before during and after the elections.
Ayorinde promised to do his best to meet the demands of the people.
He called for more support from his constituents to ensure his success in the state House of Assembly. (GBN)
