Abuja, Sept. 19, 2023 – Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Tuesday filed 35 grounds of appeal against the judgement of the President Election Petition Court (PEPC).
Atiku had gone to the PEPC to seek redress over alleged injustice in the results of the 2023 presidential elections conducted on Feb. 25.
The tribunal, in its judgement on Sept. 3. validated the victory of Bola Tinubu of the APC in the election.
Atiku, however, said the judgment of the tribunal was not only perverse, but also a grave miscarriage of justice against him.
He said the PEPC erred in law when it failed to nullify the presidential election on the grounds of non-compliance with the Electoral Act, 2022, even when evidence that was adduced before it, showed that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, acted in breach of extant laws and regulations guiding the conduct of elections.
Atiku alleged that the PEPC’s decision misconstrued and misrepresented the provisions of the 1999 Constitution (As Amended) and the Electoral Act, 2022. (GBN)
