Lagos, July 2, 2024 – Admiral Alison Madueke, a former Chief of Naval Staff, has instituted a suit at a Lagos State High Court seeking a declaration to stop Diezani, a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, from using his name.

He is seeking an order to stop Diezani to return to her maiden name, Agama.

Alison Madueke said Diezani had continued use of his name in spite of the fact that their marriage had been officially dissolved.

He said her continued usage of his name was detrimental to his reputation and might result in unforeseen repercussions, such as mistaken culpability, especially considering the corruption charges against her.

Madueke said he was married to Diezani on June 30, 1999 according to the Marriage Act.

Madueke said Diezani had filed for divorce at the Nassarawa State High Court in Mararaba Gurku in 2021 citing irreconcilable breakdown in their marriage and seeking to end their union formally.

He said he did not contest the suit which necessitated the court to dissolve the marriage. (GBN)
