Umuahia, March 22, 2023 – Alex Otti of the Labour Party has been declared the winner of the governorship election in Abia State.
The announcement of the election result was delayed by the controversy surrounding the results earlier declared in Obingwa Local Government Area.
After the resolution of the controversy, Labour Party scored 3,776 votes in Obingwa, while PDP scored 9,962 votes.
Otti scored a total of 175,466 votes in the state to beat PDP’s candidate who scored 88,526 votes.
The LP won in 10 local government areas, while the PDP in six local government areas.
Prof. Nnenna Oti, the INEC Returning Officer in the state, declared Otti as the winner on Wednesday afternoon. (GBN)
