Abducted Benue commissioner regains freedom

Makurdi, Oct. 5, 2023 – Mathew Abo, the Benue State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, who was abducted more than a week ago has been released by his abductors.

Tersoo Kula, the Chief Press Secretary to the State Governor, confirmed his release in a statement on Thursday.

 He said the commissioner had been released and reunited with his family in Sankera in Ukum Local Government area of the state.

According to the statement, the release followed the state governor’s pressure on security agencies to exert intense pressure on the kidnappers to secure his release.

Kula said no ransom or any sort of exchange was involved in securing Abo’s release. (GBN)
