Lagos, Nov. 17, 2023 – The Nigerian currency, naira, appreciated slightly against the dollar at the two segments of the foreign exchange market on Thursday.
It appreciated to N841.14 at the official NAFEM segment on Thursday from N842.70 on Wednesday.
The currency also firmed up against the dollar at the black market on Thursday, closing at between N100 and N1,150 to the dollar.
It was traded at between N1, 130 and N1,135 to the dollar on Wednesday.
Operators still blame scarcity of dollar for the poor showing of the naira at both segments of the market in spite of the last intervention of the federal government when it injected $10 million into the market a fortnight ago.
However, the government is still trying to avail the market of substantial foreign exchange with the visit of the president to Saudi Arabia this week. (GBN)
