Lagos, Nov. 14, 2023 – The University of Lagos Mass Communication Alumni Association (UMCAA) has announced its annual ball and awards scheduled for Dec. 2, 2003 at OPTS Hall, LCCI Conference Centre at 10 Nurudeen Olowopopo Way, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
It said the event would be an evening of celebration, nostalgia, and recognition of outstanding achievements within our esteemed alumni community.
“As we gather to commemorate another year of success and growth, this year’s event is poised to be an extraordinary celebration.
“The Annual Ball and Awards is a cherished tradition that brings together alumni from diverse fields to honour their accomplishments and contributions,” it said.
Aliu Akoshile, the Vice Chairman of the organizing committee and the Chairman of the Awards sub-committee, said in a statement that this year’s event would be an improvement on last year’s.
“It will be an exciting evening of 3Rs – reunion, remniscences and recognition, and of course a delightful dinner.”
He promised that there would be a higher turnout this year, considering the remarkable feat being recorded by UMCAAites in their various endeavours.
The highlight of the evening will be the presentation of awards in various categories that showcase excellence, leadership, and dedication.
According to the chaiman, who is of the 1987 set, the significance of the awards is to celebrate hardworking UMCAAites and to encourage the younger generations to become experts in their chosen endeavours.
“Six awards are up for grabs at the event, and I am very sure that everyone is anxious to know the UMCAAites who will emerge as winners of each category. Members of the award sub-committee are working round the clock to select the best of the best for recognition,” he said

- Most Outstanding Journalist Award
- Most Outstanding Brand Manager Award
- Most Outstanding Academic Award
- Distinguished Veteran Award

The event will feature inspiring keynote speakers, live entertainment, and opportunities for networking, fostering connections that last a lifetime.
