Abuja, May 8, 2023 – The Governing Council of the University of Abuja has appointed Aisha Maikudi, the youngest Professor of Law in Nigeria and the first female professor from Northwest Nigeria, as its Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic)
She was appointed along with Professor Philip Afaha who was appointed Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration).
The university announced the appointments in a statement on Monday.
It said the Council gave the approval at its 96th Regular Meeting held between Thursday, May 4 and Friday, May 5, 2023.
The council’s approval followed the selection of the duo at the 78th extraordinary meeting of the senate held on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, in accordance with the provision of the University of Abuja Act.
“The appointment, which took effect from May 5, 2023, is for a period of two years in the first instance,” the statement said.
