Abuja, March 13, 2024 – Sonny Echono, the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, on Wednesday said the launch of the student loans scheme was postponed just for weeks, not indefinitely.
He made the clarification while receiving the governor of Kwara State in his office in Abuja.
Echono said the delay was to make sure that there are no complications on the take-off of the scheme.
“The loan has not been postponed indefinitely, there’s just a little housekeeping that needs to be done, the president has arrangements in place for the launch,” Echono said.
It will be recalled that Akintunde Sawyer, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, had earlier said that the launch of the scheme had been suspended indefinitely. (GBN)
