Minna, Jan. 15, 2024 – The Niger State Government will enroll the families of dead soldiers and ex-servicemen in social investment programmes.
Mohammed Bago, the state Governor, announced this at the 2024 Nigerian Armed Forces Remembrance Day ceremony in Minna on Monday.
The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Yakubu Garba, said their enrollment in the social investment programmes would enable them to be adequately empowered to cater for themselves.
He said the state owed it a duty to cater for the families of fallen heroes and those of ex-servicemen who had paid their dues in serving their fatherland.
Bago said the state government would not allow them to be subjected to poverty as the services of the ex-servicemen would continuously be needed by the state in dealing with the security challenges.
He said the ages of the beneficiaries would determine the category of social investment programmes they would be enrolled in. (GBN)
