Kaduna, Dec. 19, 2022 – More than 28 people were reportedly killed in separate attacks in Malagum 1 and Sokwong communities of Kagoro Chiefdom in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Sunday night.

The Council Chairman, Mathias Siman, told journalists on Monday that he could confirm that seven people were killed in Sokwong Community.

The attack came barely five days after an attack on Malagum 1, killing three persons.

According to him, all the houses in Sokwong Community have been razed.

He advised residents to be calm as security was being boosted to restore normalcy to the area.

Atuk Stephen, the Speaker of Kaura Local Government, said over 22 people were confirmed killed in Malagum 1, while eight were said to have been killed in Sokwong.

Atuk described the killings as barbaric and called on government and security agencies to help check the renewed attacks in the area.

“Attacks in our area have been consistent and multi-dimensional with efforts of the security operatives and government not seen or felt,” he said.

Mohammed Jalige, the Kaduna State Police Command’s Spokesman, was not available for comments. (GBN)
