Abuja, Nov. 29, 2025 – The federal government has set up a national tax policy implementation committee to implement the new tax reforms.
Bayo Onanuga, a Presidential Spokesman, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.
According to the statement, Joseph Tegbe, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, is to head the committee.
He has over 35 years’ experience across public and private sectors, including his tenure as Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa.
Sanyade Okoli, the Special Adviser to the President on Finance and Economy, will serve as Secretary of the Committee.
Other members of the committee include Ismaeel Ahmed, Rukaiya El Rufai.
Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, will supervise the committee.
While inaugurating the committee, President Bola Tinubu urged the committee to consult consulting widely to ensure broad-based input into the implementation process.
“These new Tax Acts reflect our administration’s commitment to building a fair, transparent, and technology-driven tax system that supports economic growth while protecting the interests of citizens and businesses.
“The National Tax Policy Implementation Committee will ensure coherent, effective, and well-aligned implementation across all levels of government.”
Tegbe, the committee Chairman, said the committee understood the strategic importance of the new tax acts.
“These new Tax Acts reflect our commitment to building a fair, transparent, and technology-driven tax system that supports economic growth while protecting the interests of citizens and businesses.
“The National Tax Policy Implementation Committee will ensure coherent, effective, and well-aligned implementation across all levels of government,” he said.
