Abuja, Oct. 13, 2025 – Nigeria’s crude oil production dropped to1.581 million barrels per day (bpd) in September from1.63 million bpd in August 2025.
The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) disclosed this in a statement issued at the weekend by Eniola Akinkuotu, its Head of Media and Strategic Communication.
It attributed the decline in production during the month to the three-day strike by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association (PENGASSAN) and the scheduled routine maintenance at two strategic oil facilities.
NUPRC said the September oil production included 1.39 million bpd of crude oil and 191,373 bpd of condensate.
It said the country’s oil production in September represented a 1.61% increase over Nigeria’ oil production in the corresponding period in 2024.
The statement said the oil production during the month was still at 93 per cent of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) quota in spite of the crisis.
It said that peak crude oil and condensate production hit1.81 million bpd was achieved before the strike in September before the strike, while the lowest was 1.35 million bpd.
