Lagos, June 17, 2025 – The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has urged the Lagos State government to review its new electronic call-up parking fee to the old rate of ₦2,500.
Chinedu Ukadike, the National Publicity Secretary of IPMAN, made the appeal in Lagos on Tuesday.
He said the appeal was necessary to avert attendant increase in the prices of petroleum products.
The Lagos Electronic Call-up Systems Company recently increased the parking fee imposed on tankers along the Lekki–Epe corridor.from ₦2,500 to ₦12,500.
The hike of the fees has triggered some protests and industrial actions in parts of Lagos since Monday.
Ukadike said the stakeholders had met and agreed that the parking fee should be returned to ₦2,500 as the current rate was too excessive.
“The imposed amount is exorbitant and unbearable for marketers. It will inevitably lead to an increase in the pump price of petrol,” he said.
Meanwhile, IPMAN has directed its members to suspend its ongoing industrial action as the Lagos State government has decided to dialogue with the association on the fee.
IPMAN gave the directive through to all zonal and depot unit chairmen on Tuesday,
It said the suspension was to allow for dialogue in view of the new position of the state government.
“Sequel to the above you are directed to suspend the strike action and resume normal work to allow time for amiable resolution.
“We appreciate your cooperation and urge all IPMAN members to remain united and vigilant as we continue to engage the Lagos State Government in pursuit of a fair and favourable outcome,” IPMAN said.
