Kaduna, May 19, 2025 – Some women from adjoining communities on Monday staged a protest against chemical pollution at the premises of the Kaduna Refinery and Petrochemical Company in Kaduna.
They alleged that pollution from the company had adversely affected their health, farmland, and livelihoods.
The protesters alleged that the company, had in August 2024. released harmful chemical which led to widespread illness, destruction of crops, and the death of livestock.
Mrs Juliana Abrak, one of the protesters, said the chemical emission had rendered farming activities impossible and left many residents sick and hungry.
“We are suffering. There is no food, and we have to go elsewhere in search of something to eat. We have fertile land, but we are too afraid to farm,” she said.
