Lagos, Jan. 13, 2025 – Mudashiru Obasa has been impeached as the Speaker of the Lagos House of Assembly.
He was impeached on Monday by the 32 members of the Assembly.
Obasa, who assumed the office of the Speaker in 1999, was the longest serving leader of the legislature in states across the country.
He was impeached over allegations of corruption and financial mismanagement.
Obasa has been replaced by Mojisola Meranda, who has assumed office as the first female speaker of the Assembly. (GBN)
