2023 Elections: INEC Chairman briefs Chatham House

Lagos, Jan. 17, 2023 – Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the INEC Chairman, paid an official visit to Chatham House in London today where he assured the officials of the readiness of INEC to conduct credible, free and fair elections in February.

He was received by Chatham House officials led by Dr Alex Vines, OBE.

Yakubu said that INEC was not contemplating any cancellation nor postponement of the elections.

He assured the officials that all the registered voters among the estimated two million internally displaced Nigerians would be allowed to vote in 2023 provided they are in secured Internally Displaced Persons (IDP)

Presidential Candiadates of some political parties in Nigeria had also visited the House to brief member so the public on the political programmes.

Bola Tinubu of the APC was in the House on Dec. 5, 2022, while Peter Obi of the Labour Party was in the House on Jan. 16, 2023.
